About NetNut
Established by Alarum Technologies in 2017, this Israeli-based proxy provider was initially known for its ISP proxies. Those proxies are still sourced via Divi Group, which offers an additional revenue stream for ISPs wishing to sell their unused bandwidth. Today, this provider offers additional types of proxies as well, including residential, datacenter, and mobile proxies.
In 2023, NetNut expanded beyond proxy networks to offer additional services. Initially, those included the Website Unblocked, Datasets, and SERP Scraper APIs. The latest addition is the AI Optimization Engine, which analyzes your past usage to select an ideal IP for each request. As a result, your scraping efforts should yield more successful results at a faster rate than with traditional proxy providers.
Some of the latest additions to NetNut happened throughout 2024, with the introduction of 24/7 customer support, ISO 27001 certification for data security, and the Impact Data Initiative for NGOs, universities, and public entities. As stated by the proxy provider to our team, we can expect additional refinements in 2025, with the first one bringing a redesigned user dashboard, which should arrive in the year’s first half.
Proxy Server Types
NetNut provides any imaginable proxy type: residential, ISP, datacenter, and mobile. On top of that, it runs extensive proxy networks that span the entire world, supports various protocols, enables specific geo-targeting, and more. In this part of our hands-on NetNut review, we’ll explain what to expect from each supported proxy type.
Residential Proxies
Type | Shared |
Payment | Per traffic (bandwidth) |
Locations | 195 |
Protocols | HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5 |
Use Cases | Data extraction Bypassing geo-restrictions Multi-account management Price comparison |
This provider runs a network of 85+ million rotating residential proxies from 195 countries, making it one of the largest providers. Since there are no intermediaries, you can count on maximum uptime and easy scalability. Furthermore, NetNut promises fast performance due to its use of hybrid ISP and P2P proxy servers. As you can expect, there’s support for HTTP, HTTPS, and SOCKS5 protocols.
It’s interesting to mention that NetNut’s residential proxies use machine learning to bypass CAPTCHAs, reCAPTCHAs, and anti-bot systems. In addition to bypassing geo-restrictions, they can access any website, making them highly suitable for data extraction. You can also decide between rotating and sticky sessions and insightful usage stats, which helps you optimize your web scraping efforts.
ISP Proxies
Type | Dedicated |
Payment | Per traffic (bandwidth) |
Locations | 30+ |
Protocols | HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5 |
Use Cases | Data extraction E-mail protection SEO monitoring Brand Protection |
Even though NetNut promises global reach via its ISP proxies, they’re available in 30+ locations (primarily the US and Europe) and count 1+ million IP addresses. Nonetheless, you can count on targeting cities, states, and even ASNs. Since they come in a pool, they rotate, but it’s possible to establish sticky sessions since these servers are always online, which allows uninterrupted scraping sessions.
NetNut promises a 99.9% uptime for its ISP proxies and the ability to gather any publicly available data. You can also count on in-depth usage stats and real-time proxy control, which helps optimize your use of ISP proxies. Furthermore, you also get enhanced security via safelisted IPs, various types of authentications, granular control over sub-accounts, and enterprise-level scalability.
Datacenter Proxies
Type | Shared |
Payment | Per traffic (bandwidth) |
Locations | 2 |
Protocols | HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5 |
Use Cases | Web scraping Bypassing anti-bot systems Market research Data aggregation |
NetNut’s marketing around datacenter proxies is quite vague. The provider says it offers 150,000+ datacenter IPs, which would make it one of the most prominent players in the global proxy market. It also says it provides IPs from 200 countries, but our account limited us to only two locations: the US and India. Upon checking third-party websites, we saw that most agree with our claims – that only two locations are covered.
Still, there’s plenty to like here. NetNut’s datacenter proxies allow robust rotation options, so you can choose from rotating upon each connection request or binding a specific IP indefinitely. There are no restrictions related to potential targets. Everything mentioned above also applies to datacenter proxies: a 99.9% uptime, real-time stats, various types of authentications, and effortless scaling.
Mobile Proxies
Type | Shared |
Payment | Per traffic (bandwidth) |
Locations | 100+ |
Protocols | HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5 |
Use Cases | High-end web scraping Comparing prices online SEO and ad verification Market research |
Mobile proxies are the latest addition to NetNut’s offering. Although the company initially offered a limited mobile proxy network, it features over 5 million IPs from 100+ countries today. You can choose from 3G, 4G, 5G, and LTE networks (or IPs) and customize your IP by continent, country, state, city, and more. Therefore, NetNut’s mobile proxies are highly suitable for advanced web scraping, where bypassing aggressive blocks is imperative.
By default, this provider’s mobile proxies rotate with every connection request. However, you can also establish sticky sessions. Like with other types of proxies on offer, those can be unrestricted sticky sessions, which means you don’t have to specify a time limit. Aside from scraping, NetNut also recommends its mobile proxies for social media management, as they work great for maintaining the authenticity and credibility of your accounts.
Pricing and Payment Methods
NetNut is more oriented towards enterprise customers. In other words, the entry points for becoming a user are steep. NetNut offers a series of subscription plans for all its proxy types, but more affordable prices are achievable only through high-end tiers suitable for high-end users who need a lot of bandwidth.
Residential Proxies
NetNut’s residential proxies are available via monthly and annual plans with identical features. The only difference is in the amount of monthly bandwidth you get. Also, there are no pay-as-you-go plans, so you must pick a pre-defined subscription plan.
For those interested in NetNut’s residential proxies, the pricing is structured based on the amount of monthly bandwidth. If you opt for monthly payments, you can get 14GB for $99.00, 36GB for $250.00, 75GB for $499.00, 175GB for $999.00, 400GB for $1,999.00, or 1TB for $3,750.00 per month. This translates to a range of $7.07/GB to $3.75/GB for the highest-tier plan.
Some savings can be found by purchasing annual plans, which means you’ll need to pay in advance for the next 12 months. We’ll show you per-month prices, making it easier to compare various plans. You can get 14GB for $84.00, 36GB for $213.00, 75GB for $424.00, 175GB for $849.00, 400GB for $1,699.00, or 1TB for $3,188.00 per month.
ISP Proxies
If you decide to go with ISP proxies, you’ll need to consider how much monthly bandwidth you need, as that’s the primary differentiation between NetNut’s ISP proxy plans. Like with other types of proxies on offer, there are no pay-as-you-go plans.
Paying monthly for NetNut’s ISP proxies isn’t the most affordable way to become a user, but it allows you to avoid paying for the entire year ahead. That said, you can buy 7GB for $99.00, 20GB for $250.00, 50GB for $499.00, 125GB for $999.00, 350GB for $1,999.00, or 1TB for $4,500 per month.
An annual plan allows you to decrease the prices mentioned above. For example, you can get 7GB for $84.00, 20GB for $213.00, 50GB for $424.00, 125GB for $849.00, 350GB for $1,699.00, or 1TB for $3,825.00 per month.
Datacenter Proxies
Datacenter proxies are NetNut’s most affordable entry point, regardless of whether you want a monthly or annual subscription plan. Once again, the only difference between NetNut’s datacenter proxy plans is the monthly bandwidth.
Those looking to pay monthly can start at $100.00, which gets them 100GB of traffic. Also, you can buy 250GB for $185.00, 500GB for $350.00, 750GB for $450.00, 1TB for $500.00, or 2TB of traffic for $1,000.00 per month. In other words, these prices range from $1.00 per GB to $0.5/GB for the highest-tier plan.
There are also annual plans that ask you to pay for the whole year ahead. We’ll display their prices on a per-month basis for easier comparison. That said, you can get 100GB for $90.00, 250GB for $166.00, 500GB for $315.00, 750GB for $405.00, 1TB for $450.00, or 2TB for $90.00 per month.
Mobile Proxies
As expected, NetNut’s mobile proxies aren’t the most affordable part of its offer. That said, you’ll be paying premium prices for premium features. You can decide between monthly and annual plans based on how much bandwidth you need each month.
Like other proxy types, NetNut’s mobile proxies are available through various monthly plans. You can get 13GB for $99.00, 34GB for $250.00, 72GB for $499.00, 163GB for $999.00, 340GB for $1,999.00, or 1TB for $4,500.00 per month.
As you can expect, an annual plan allows you to decrease those prices, but you’ll need to pay for your entire billing period (12 months) upfront. In this case, you can buy 13GB for $84.00, 34GB for $213.00, 72GB for $424.00, 163GB for $849.00, 340GB for $1,699.00, or 1TB for $3825.00.
Additional Services and Costs
As mentioned earlier, this provider offers additional services beyond its proxy networks. In terms of the extra tools, you can choose from the Web Unblocker (starts at $20.00 per month), SERP Scraper API (ranging from $1,200/month up to $40,000 per month for 100 million requests), and LinkedIn Scraper API (starts at $4.00 per month).
NetNut also offers datasets. There are “Professional Profile Datasets,” which give you access to over 250 million profiles, and “Company Datasets,” allowing you to gather information on companies with a 100% success rate. We know that NetNut offers 3-, 6-, and 12-month plans for its datasets. However, to get more information on the prices of these datasets, you’ll need to contact the provider, who will offer you custom pricing.
Payment Methods & Money-Back Guarantees
You’ll be happy to know that NetNut supports a wide range of payment methods, catering to users who need different levels of anonymity. More precisely, you can pay via PayPal, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, and Amex), and wire transfers are on board. Furthermore, crypto payments are supported as well.
It’s also helpful to note that NetNut doesn’t offer country-based pricing, as some other proxy providers do. Thus, all its users pay the same prices regardless of their physical location, which applies to individual and business customers.
This proxy provider has strict money-back guarantee rules. You’re highly encouraged to contact its support team for a 7-day trial, which will be optimized based on your needs, priorities, and preferred usage. In our experience, activating a trial takes only a couple of hours.
If you decide that you’d like a refund, you’re free to contact NetNut. As per its legal documentation, this provider is “willing to consider a refund request according to the plan’s usage.” In other words, getting a refund might be possible only in specific cases.
NetNut’s account, interface and usability
We’re sure you’d like to know how NetNut’s interface looks, how easy it is to set up a proxy, and whether you can keep track of your traffic. This segment of our NetNut review explains just that, so keep reading to learn more.
Registration & Initial Setup
There are two ways to become a NetNut user. If you’d like to immediately create an account, use the “Start Free Trial” option on the provider’s home page. You’ll be taken to another page, where you will find a detailed sign-up form. You’ll be asked for your personal information, including your first name, last name, phone number, country, and social platform (you can choose from Telegram, Skype, LinkedIn, Discord, Qq, or WeChat).
Then, you’ll need to create your NetNut credentials, including your e-mail address and a strong password. In the next step, you’ll be asked for your business information, which applies to enterprise customers. If you’re an individual, you can skip this step.
Upon signing up, you’ll see a message that you can get a 7-day trial by contacting NetNut’s support. You can use live chat support on the provider’s site or contact the support team via e-mail or various social media channels.
Another way is to avoid signing up. You can directly request a trial by turning to NetNut’s support. In that case, upon explaining your preferred use of the provider’s network, you’ll get detailed information on accessing its network, including your credentials. In other words, the provider’s representatives will set up everything on your behalf.
Profile & Settings
When it comes to customizing your account, you get a basic set of options. There are two ways to get to those: you can click on your profile icon in the top-right content and pick “Settings,” or you can use the “Settings” item in the left-placed sidebar of your dashboard. You’ll get to the same set of options no matter which path you take.
On the left, NetNut will present your billing info, which will be empty if you choose to go with a trial first. This is where you can enter your name, country of origin, city, address, ZIP code, and VAT/ID number. On the right side, you’ll see a series of tabs that let you review the financial side of your account.
More precisely, the “Billing” tab will show all your past invoices. The “Account” tab lets you review your account’s event logs, while the “Product” page enables you to review your currently active NetNut products and services. We’ll remind you that you can purchase more than a single subscription plan, which makes it a great place to review all that information. Lastly, the “Unauthenticated IPs” tab allows you to specify the IPs that can access your proxy without authentication.
Managing Proxies
NetNut provides several ways to set up your proxy and initialize a new proxy connection. If you decide to go with a trial, the provider’s support team will send you a detailed e-mail with all the information you need to set up a proxy. You’ll get the following information: proxy port, proxy URL, username and password, and other parameters you need.
You’ll need some prior experience with proxy networks to take advantage of that information. Thankfully, your welcome email will contain links to NetNut’s support documentation, which we’ll discuss below.
Another way to implement NetNut’s proxies is to use your dashboard, which provides a handy option for generating code. Once you reach your dashboard, look to the right, where you’ll see the “Proxy Generator” window.
In the upper portion of Proxy Generator, you’ll see your proxy port, proxy server, and proxy username. Below, you can pick the type of proxy you’d like to use based on the product(s) you’ve purchased. Next, select a location or go with “All” if you want NetNut to randomize your connection requests. You’ll also need to pick a target URL.
Before you hit the “Generate” button, look at the top-right portion of Proxy Generator, where you can choose from several possible code integrations. You’ll see the following options: PHP, Python, Ruby, C#, NodeJS, Bash, and Golang. Before NetNut generates the code, you’ll need to input a password. Then, the code will be displayed below, ready to be used however you see fit.
Overall, NetNut provides an easy way to generate proxy parameters and integrate its proxies with various third-party tools and services—but only if you have some experience using proxies. We must note that most of NetNut’s competitors offer a more modern-looking dashboard with numerous ways to review proxies, generate parameters, and create custom code for third-party integration.
Data / Usage Tracking
Staying on top of bandwidth usage is imperative when using any proxy provider. You can adjust your usage and optimize your scraping efforts by checking how much bandwidth you have and how much bandwidth you’ve spent. In addition, many of today’s proxy providers offer in-depth analytics to let you maximize your scraping efforts.
When it comes to NetNut, some analytics are available on the front page of your dashboard. There, you’ll see the total number of requests, success score, average session duration, total data spent, and more.
Head to the “Usage” tab in the left-placed sidebar to see more in-depth statistics. NetNut’s dedicated analytics section initially shows aggregated data for a chosen time frame. Your next step is to check the types of data you’d like to see, such as dates, errors, countries, domains, and daily average values.
You can also fine-tune the way NetNut’s analytics are presented. For example, you can search for a specific term, download CSV data, print your stats, check which columns you’d like to see (total number of requests, success score and percentage, average session duration, total data, daily averages, etc.), and filter your analytics.
Possible Use Cases
Due to the size of its network, a wide array of IP addresses, and fast response times, NetNut’s proxies work for numerous use cases. In this section of our NetNut review, we’ll highlight its capabilities for web scraping, SEO monitoring, email protection, threat intelligence, and social media tracking.
Web Scraping
This provider is suitable for any web scraping operation, especially for high-end users who deal with large-scale data collection. With NetNut, you get proxies from 195 countries and stealthy web access that utilizes IP rotation to avoid detection. Furthermore, your scraping efforts can continue without interruption, thanks to the continuous flow of fresh IPs.
SEO Monitoring & SERP Tracking
Unlike some of its competitors, NetNut imposes no limitations on targeting search engines. You can count on avoiding IP bans, simulating local searches, analyzing competitors, and researching keywords. You can also use it for ad verification to check how ads on your site appear in different regions. In addition, this provider allows easy integration with SEO tools and custom scripts.
Email Protection
Business organizations can rely on NetNut to ensure their email operations run smoothly. More precisely, NetNut provides enhanced security by preventing direct access to the email server, complying with data protection regulations, and monitoring in real-time. By integrating it with third-party tools, you can utilize this provider to obtain analytics and logs for better threat detection.
Threat Intelligence
Large organizations use high-end proxy providers like NetNut to gather, analyze, and act on cyber threat data, preventing possible breaches, vulnerabilities, and attacks. Security teams can utilize proxies to gain anonymity online, access blocked (suspicious) websites, and simulate victim behavior.
Social Media Scraping & Tracking
Businesses can use NetNut to gather publicly available social media data to increase their marketing efforts and optimize their online presence. Since social media sites have strong anti-scraping policies, using a highly reputable and robust provider such as NetNut is crucial. This provider can help avoid IP blocking, simulate multiple users, access geo-restricted content, and more.
Documentation / Knowledge Base and Tutorials
Before signing up for any proxy provider, you’ll want to know what kind of support documentation you’ll get. As noted earlier, NetNut doesn’t have the most intuitive user dashboard, so let’s take a step further and see if that downside can be mitigated with in-depth documentation.
Documentation & Code Examples
NetNut provides a dedicated documentation section on its website, where you can learn more about its supported proxy types and scraper APIs. Each section is nicely organized into individual lessons that explain the basics first. Then, you can dive deeper into various aspects of NetNut, check all kinds of code examples, and better understand how to utilize different types of proxies.
Proxy Integrations
Available as individual blog posts, NetNut showcases various possible integrations with tools such as Scrapy, Selenium, Jarvee, Multi-Login, Puppeteer, and more. Although the number of guides is somewhat limited, the provider has covered all the most popular tools. Plus, each guide comes with nicely explained steps and screenshots.
Webinars
Through webinars, which last anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes, you can learn about getting real-time SERP data, streamlining ad verification, bypassing anti-bot systems, and maximizing your web data extraction processes. All webinars are available free of charge. Some happen live, so you’ll need to register for those. Others are pre-recorded, and you access them using your e-mail address.
FAQ
NetNut’s FAQ section is helpful in getting the most crucial information without having to read the provider’s in-depth documentation. This separate section on NetNut’s site allows you to learn more about the provider, different types of proxies, payment methods, activating a trial, troubleshooting various issues, and more.
Blog
If you’re interested in following the latest trends related to proxies, NetNut’s blog provides everything you need. It’s not the most active blog out there, but you’ll find tons of evergreen content. While some blog posts are informative and explain NetNut’s features, others provide tips and tricks on web scraping, cybersecurity, and more.
Customer Support and User Reviews
As explained above, NetNut offers in-depth support documentation. However, when facing technical issues, you’ll want to rely on its customer support, which is precisely what we’ll report about in this section. In addition, we’ll check what others are saying online about this proxy provider.
Customer Support Channels
NetNut is among the most responsive proxy providers we’ve tested. Our team interacted with its support agents via live chat on multiple occasions, and we never waited more than five minutes to hear back. That said, if you ever encounter an issue, we highly recommend contacting the provider’s live chat support via its website.
However, multiple other communication channels are also available. You can contact NetNut via e-mail, WhatsApp, Skype, Telegram, and more. They even have dedicated Slack and Discord channels, and NetNut’s team is also active on social media. Overall, it looks like this provider leaves no stone unturned to assist its customers.
User Reviews & Trustworthiness
To check what others think about specific proxy providers, we turn to Trustpilot and G2, two of the most reputable aggregators of user reviews. That said, NetNut scores 4.7 out of 5 on Trustpilot, and we have to say that we’re not surprised by that score.
As many on Trustpilot have noted, NetNut is an expensive service—but worth every penny. Its users rave about responsive customer support, highly effective web scraping, and the ability to extract clean data from any publicly available target.
On G2, NetNut scores 4.9 out of 5, with close to 170 reviews published so far. Once again, NetNut is a trustworthy proxy provider. Most of the positive reviews praise the quality of web scraping, the ability to bypass anti-bot blocks, fast speeds, and overall reliability. When it comes to negative documentation, the most prominent issue is the lack of guidance.
Conclusion
NetNut is indeed among the most expensive proxy providers, which makes it more oriented towards enterprise customers. It’s interesting to note that its prices decreased in 2024, which can be seen as the provider’s decision to attract non-business users. That said, we hope to see NetNut do more in the future to attract other types of users.
Despite its steep price, this ultra-capable proxy provider is undoubtedly worth your time and investment. Those who need a reliable partner for their scraping efforts will be particularly happy with NetNut. Of course, its possible uses go well beyond scraping, as this provider’s extra-large network can support practically endless possible use cases. We’d also like to praise NetNut’s scale and flexibility, which you’ll hardly find elsewhere.
Of course, there are some downsides as well. Even if you have no issue with NetNut’s price, you might find its dashboard to be outdated and limiting. However, as said above, we were told that a visual refresh is on the way, which would make NetNut one of the strongest options in the world of proxy providers.
