About Rayobyte
Rayobyte is a product of Sprius LLC, a company registered in Lincoln, Nebraska (US), which is also the location of the proxy provider’s headquarters. It launched in 2015 under the ‘Blazing SEO’ name, targeting search engine marketers. It didn’t take long for Blazing SEO to become a well-known name thanks to its ultra-fast 1 Gbps lines, the ability to bypass IP blocks, and affordable pricing plans.
In 2022, Blazing SEO was rebranded to Rayobyte and its offer scaled significantly to include various types of proxy servers. During that time, the company focused on marketing its ethical sourcing practices, which is one of the hottest topics in the world of proxy providers. By sourcing IPs ethnically, Rayobyte can provide better reliability in terms of bypassing Internet roadblocks and navigating through IP blacklisting.
In 2024, Rayobyte underwent another significant shift by expanding its offer to make it more suitable for smaller clients. Initially known as an SEO proxy tool and then as a proxy service for getting affordable dedicated datacenter proxies, Rayobyte now offers the most comprehensive range of services yet.
As you’ll see in this hands-on Rayobyte review, this provider offers any type of proxy imaginable, a general-purpose scraping API, as well as ‘Web Unblocker,’ a hybrid tool that imitates real traffic with human-like browsing. Keep reading to see all of those features in action!
Proxy Server Types
Rayobyte offers a diverse range of proxy types, providing you with a wide array of options to suit your specific needs. You can choose from residential (rotating), datacenter (rotating and static), ISP (rotating and static), and mobile proxies.
Residential Proxies
Type | Shared |
Payment | Per traffic (bandwidth) |
Locations | 100+ |
Protocols | HTTP(S) |
Use Cases | Public data gathering Cybersecurity Competitive analysis Bypassing geo-blocks |
This provider offers 100,000+ residential proxies in 100+ locations, allowing you to target specific countries and cities (especially in the USA). As per Rayobyte’s explanation, it uses a proxy-ware application called Cash Raven to source IPs. Cash Raven is a program where individuals can apply and get paid to share their IPs.
Rayobyte’s residential proxies support HTTP and HTTPS protocols and IPv4 and IPv6 variants. Furthermore, those are rotating proxies and sticky sessions are also an option. That way, you can choose to use a specific dynamic IP for an extended period if it proves to be successful in data scraping. Rayobyte’s residential proxies can be used for basic data logging, cybersecurity, and bypassing geo-blocks.
ISP Proxies
Type | Shared and dedicated |
Payment | Traffic (bandwidth) or per IP |
Locations | 25+ |
Protocols | HTTP(S), SOCKS5 |
Use Cases | Large-scale data gathering Cybersecurity Scraping from authority sites Bypassing specific geo-blocks |
Rayobyte notes on its website that ISP proxies are recommended for those looking for clean IPs from actual Internet providers. The provider offers 2,500+ ISP proxies, and they come from 25+ countries. However, that applies only to dynamic/rotating proxies. You can also choose a static IP for your exclusive usage, but you’ll be limited to 4 countries (the US, the UK, Germany, and Canada).
Rayobyte’s ISP proxies offer unlimited bandwidth, API access, free location targeting, and support for HTTP, HTTPS, and SOCKS5 proxies (with IPv4 and IPv6 support). These proxies are ideal for those seeking residential web access with the power and speed of a datacenter proxy. They are perfect for large-scale data scraping, cybersecurity, and bypassing advanced Internet blocks.
Mobile Proxies
Type | Shared |
Payment | Traffic (bandwidth) |
Locations | N/A |
Protocols | HTTP(S), SOCKS5 |
Use Cases | Public data collection Bypassing high-end web blocks Testing of mobile apps Bypassing geo-blocks |
Rayobyte provides very little information about its mobile proxies, even though they’ve been a part of its offer for a couple of years now. We don’t know the exact size of the provider’s pool of mobile proxies. We also don’t know how many countries they cover, as this pool of proxies seems to change over time. However, you can expect 150+ locations in most cases and on most days.
It’s also worth noting that IP rotation is available for every request. However, the bad news is that sticky sessions or specific time intervals are not on offer. On the plus side, you can count on varied protocols, such as HTTP, HTTPS, and SOCKS5, and they also support IPv4 and IPv6 protocol versions. Rayobyte recommends mobile proxies for bypassing the most robust anti-bot systems and geo-blocks.
Datacenter Proxies
Type | Shared and dedicated |
Payment | Traffic (bandwidth) or per IP |
Locations | 25+ |
Protocols | HTTP(S), SOCKS5 |
Use Cases | Basic data collection Online anonymity Bypassing basic anti-bot blocks |
Datacenter proxies are perhaps the most significant selling point of this provider. You can count on 300,000+ IP addresses from 30+ countries, based on which proxy type you pick. Related to that, you can choose from shared (semi-dedicated) proxies that can be shared between 3 users, dedicated IPs suitable for large-scale scraping, and rotating IPs that work great for bypassing anti-scraping measures.
It’s worth mentioning that dedicated IPs are available in 30+ locations, semi-dedicated IPs are available in 10+ locations, and rotating datacenter IPs come from 4 countries only (the US, Germany, Brazil, and France). HTTP, HTTP, and SOCKS5 protocols, as well as IPv4 and IPv6, are supported. Lastly, Rayobyte offers instant free replacements for blocked IPs and unlimited threads.
Pricing and Payment Methods
Rayobyte is renowned for its cost-effective pricing structure, ensuring that you get the most value for your money. For rotating proxies, the price is based on your bandwidth needs, with a lower price for higher bandwidth. For static proxies, the price is determined by the number of IPs and the length of your chosen subscription.
Residential Proxies
Rayobyte’s rotating residential proxies are priced based on the bandwidth you need. You have the flexibility to ‘pay as you go’ or opt for a subscription. The ‘pay as you go’ option is suitable for occasional proxy use or if you have a clear idea of your project’s bandwidth needs. Subscriptions are ideal for small, medium, and large recurring projects.
Paying as you go can cost you as much as $7.50/month, which is the price of the ‘Starter’ plan, which offers up to 15GB. There are 7 different plans in total, ranging from 16-49GB ($6.50/GB), 50-99GB ($6.00/GB), 100-249GB ($5.50/GB), 250-499GB ($5.00/GB), 500-999GB ($4.00/GB), up to 1-4.9TB ($3.00/GB).
Similarly to how “pay as you go” plans work, Rayobyte offers 7 subscription plans as well. You get a certain amount of bandwidth (the more you get, the less you’ll pay), reset monthly. You can buy 15GB for $100.00/month, 50GB for $250.00/month, 100GB for $450.00 per month, 250GB for $1,000/month, 500GB for $1,750/month, 1TB for $3,200/month, or 5TB for $12,000/month.
ISP Proxies
Rayobyte’s ISP proxies also come in two possible variants: static and rotating. The price is generated based on the bandwidth you need or the number of IP addresses you plan to use for your project. A custom plan is also possible, but that applies to enterprise clients only.
If you wish to pay as you go, you can get started for $7.50/GB for up to 15GB of traffic. If you need more traffic, the price will drop. For example, you’ll get $7.00/GB for 15-50GB, $6.50/GB for 51-100GB, $6.00/GB for 101-250GB, $5.50/GB for 251-500GB, or $5.00/GB for 501-1000GB.
The situation is much simpler regarding static ISP proxies, as Rayobyte offers only three plans. If you need up to 99 IPs, you’ll pay $5.00 per IP. Then, you can pay $4.80/IP for 100-999 IPs or $4.60/IP for 1,000-4,999 IPs. Those running large-scale projects and needing 5,000+ IP addresses are encouraged to contact Rayobyte for more information.
Mobile Proxies
This proxy provider keeps things simple when it comes to mobile proxies. You pay based on how much bandwidth you need every month, so we’re talking about a subscription here. Rayobyte offers 3 subscription plans, ranging from $50.00 to $600.00 per month, lowering the price per gigabyte the more bandwidth you buy from the start.
For $50.00 per month, you get 2GB of bandwidth. For $300 per month, you get 15GB, which means the price comes down to $20.00/GB. Finally, you can also pay $600 per month for 40GB of bandwidth, which means the price will come down to $15.00/GB.
Datacenter Proxies
You can choose from rotating and static datacenter proxies, meaning Rayobyte will charge by the amount of bandwidth or the number of IPs you need. This proxy provider has done a wonderful job of creating various plans that target small, medium, and large projects. However, as a general rule, buying more bandwidth or IPs will lower the price you pay from the get-go.
Rotating datacenter proxies start at $0.60/GB for the ‘Starter’ plan that gets you 1-50GB. You can also pay $0.55/GB for 51-150GB, $0.50/GB for 151-350GB, or $0.45/month for 351-1000GB. Custom plans are also available if you need more than 1TB of traffic, but you’ll need to contact Rayobyte for more information.
The price of static datacenter proxies depends on the number of IP addresses and the length of your desired subscription plan. You’ll need to pay $2.50/IP if you need 5-99 IPs, $2.13/IP for 100-999 IPs, or $1.88/IP for 1K-5K IPs. Those prices apply to the monthly subscription. The 3-month plan gets you a 5% discount, the 6-month plan is 10% off, while the 12-month plan is 15% off.
Additional Services and Costs
Aside from its residential, ISP, datacenter, and mobile proxy servers, Rayobyte offers two additional services you can purchase separately. One of those is called “Web Unblocker,” and it’s a feature designed to mimic real traffic with human-like browsing. As such, it’s useful for altering automated traffic for the purpose of bypassing proxy blocks.
Website Unblocker is priced based on the amount of bandwidth you need. For example, you’ll pay $12.00/GB if you need up to 10GB. Then, you can get 11-25GB for $10.00/GB, 101-250GB for $7.00/GB, 251-500GB for $6.00/GB, and 501-1000GB for $5.00/month.
Let’s not forget that Rayobyte also offers a scraping API. What’s interesting to mention here is that you can get started free of charge. More precisely, you won’t have to pay anything for up to 5,000 scrapes, which is an excellent way to test-drive this proxy provider. If you need up to half a million scrapes, the price will be $0.0018/scrape.
Payment Methods & Money-Back Guarantees
Rayobyte supports two payment methods, and those are credit cards and PayPal. Also, you must create an account first, based on whether you want residential or datacenter proxy access. Once you reach your dashboard, you can pick a specific plan, and Rayobyte will prompt you to choose a payment method.
We also have to note that Rayobyte does not support cryptocurrencies, which can be a downside for some. While most of the other high-end proxy providers support that payment method, there’s currently no way to become a user of Rayobyte while preserving your anonymity.
Furthermore, Rayobyte has a pretty strict money-back policy. As per its Terms of Service, fees are not refundable. As the document notes, you cannot request a refund once your payment has been processed. However, there’s also a part that mentions that Rayobyte can review refunds on a case-by-case basis.
In other words, getting a refund from Rayobyte is theoretically possible, but you probably won’t get one in practice. We’ll remind you that trial accounts are available, so we highly recommend using one before you decide to pay and become a premium user.
Rayobyte’s account, interface and usability
In this segment of our Rayobyte review, we’ll go over the registration procedure to show you how to become a user. Then, we’ll review the provider’s centralized dashboard, explain how analytics work, and more.
Registration & Initial Setup
Before you can access any of Rayobyte’s features, you’ll need to sign up for an account. Once you input your e-mail address and create a password, you’ll need to confirm your account before accessing your dashboard. Our team encountered several server-related issues while signing up, which prevented us from verifying our account.
However, after waiting for a couple of minutes and retrying, we managed to verify our account and access our dashboard. So, if you encounter similar issues, be patient and make sure to re-check whether you’ve received a confirmation email (check your ‘Spam’ folder as well).
There are two possible ways to proceed after creating an account. If you want a free trial, contact Rayobyte at [email protected], explaining that you’ve created an account and wish to claim 50MB of free bandwidth. We’ll note that most other providers offer a more simple way to get a trial.
If you wish to sign up immediately, navigate to Billing > Purchase Bandwidth. As explained earlier in the review, you can pay as you go or obtain a subscription. All options will be clearly explained, and you’ll need to pick a payment method before hitting the “Buy” button.
We’ll also highlight another attractive option this provider offers. By going to Billing > Auto-Replenish Bandwidth, you can set the minimum bandwidth amount and then set a certain amount of bandwidth to be replaced when your account falls below the minimum. After selecting a payment method (PayPal or a credit card), you’ll ensure you always have enough bandwidth for your operation.
Profile & Settings
This isn’t the most comprehensive provider when it comes to customizing your profile and related settings. To see what you can edit, launch your dashboard and select “Profile” from the left-positioned sidebar.
Essentially, there are two types of information you can edit. The “Profile Information” section allows you to input your first and last name and your dashboard’s e-mail address. You’ll also see the status of your account, whether it’s active or not.
You can also reset various types of passwords, such as your residential proxy, Web Unblocker, datacenter proxy, or ISP proxy password. At the bottom, you’ll see another option – to reset the password for your Rayobyte password.
Overall, Rayobyte doesn’t allow you to fine-tune a lot regarding user accounts. Luckily, that somewhat changes once you start setting up proxies, where you’ll find more settings to play with. To learn more about that, keep on reading our Rayobyte review.
Managing Proxies
Keep in mind that Rayobyte offers two types of dashboards, depending on whether you signed up for a rotating or static dashboard. We tested Rayobyte’s rotating proxy dashboard, so everything said in this review applies to that aspect of the proxy provider.
Before managing proxies, you need to log in to your dashboard. You’ll land on the ‘Home’ page, which provides instructions for creating your proxy connection. You’ll see four sections – for residential, ISP, and datacenter proxies and for Rayobyte’s Web Unblocker.
At any moment, you can see the available bandwidth, different ways of authorization (through credentials or an IP address), a suitable proxy server address, port, credentials, and more. If you don’t need to target a specific country, these instructions are all you need to set up a proxy connection on your device’s operating system.
If you jump to the ‘Proxy List Generator’ option (using the left-placed sidebar), you can fine-tune various parameters related to your proxy connection. For example, you can pick a specific country, region, and city, decide between random or sticky IPs, and more. As you change any of those parameters, Rayobyte will generate a list of proxies you can use.
Data / Usage Tracking
This proxy provider offers several ways to monitor your bandwidth and usage. To get started with its rotating proxies, you’ll need to buy a certain amount of bandwidth. Luckily, Rayobyte offers an easy way to monitor how much data remains available: using the ‘Home’ page of your dashboard.
If you scroll down on the ‘Home’ page, you’ll see a graph of how much data you’ve spent in the last 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, and 180 days. By default, the graph shows all of the provider’s available proxies and services. However, you can optimize it by excluding the services you don’t use. You can also download that information in the CSV format.
If you’re targeting specific countries, you must turn to the ‘Bandwidth per Country’ option on the left-placed sidebar. This is where you’ll find a graph of your bandwidth/data sorted by individual countries for the last 10, 20, and 30 days. Aside from that, the provider can show graphs based on individual proxy types and services.
Possible Use Cases
Thanks to its variety of proxy servers, reliable performance, and ability to integrate proxies with any third-party solution, Rayobyte is a versatile provider. Numerous possible uses include e-commerce web scraping, SEO monitoring, ad verification, cybersecurity, and market research.
eCommerce Web Scraping
Rayobyte recommends its rotating residential proxies for scraping large volumes of data from e-commerce sites. Since the provider’s IP addresses are ethically sourced, they are less likely to get flagged or banned. In this case, we would also recommend the ‘Web Unblocker’ feature, as it can make it look like your traffic comes from actual users, which is crucial for obtaining data at a high success rate.
SEO Monitoring
If you prioritize SEO monitoring, know that Rayobyte targets a considerable number of countries, which means you can get localized SEO results. Furthermore, you can see what a website looks like in different locations, check your keyword(s) position on SERPs for all kinds of queries, and also check whether your content appears on SERPs as intended. All that is possible to gather and present in real-time with instant accuracy.
Ad Verification
Whether you’re a website owner or an advertising agency representative, this provider’s proxy network can be a great asset. By utilizing residential, datacenter, ISP, or mobile proxies, you can check the position of ads, verify affiliate links, and even check for fake impressions or ad clicks. Furthermore, you can utilize Rayobyte’s proxy network for competitive separation, frequency cap, and geotargeting.
Cybersecurity
Proxies are often used to strengthen cybersecurity, and the same applies to Rayobyte’s proxies. By re-routing your traffic through this provider’s servers, you can reach a higher level of confidentiality and anonymity. Also, you’ll keep your actual IP address hidden, which helps you bypass geo-blocks. Let’s not forget that re-routing your traffic through a proxy server brings protection from DDoS attacks.
Market Research
Doing in-depth market research is practically impossible without a proxy service. That’s because websites keep track of IP addresses and can identify those that act robotically. A reliable proxy service, such as Rayobyte, uses patterns that hide proxy activity, which helps you scrape all kinds of data for market research. For example, you’ll get to collect reviews, research prices, compare product features, and more.
Documentation / Knowledge Base and Tutorials
Rayobyte’s support documentation is extensive, but it’s not very well organized. Even though you’ll find plenty of helpful information, tutorials, and explainers, you’ll have to dig deep to find what you’re after. Keep on reading to learn more.
Knowledge Base
Rayobyte’s knowledge base includes dozens, if not hundreds, of articles and explainers. You can learn more about proxies in general, get to know your centralized dashboard, get more information on paying for proxies, and troubleshoot technical issues. This content is scattered across many categories, so searching for something specific is the best way to proceed.
Rayobyte Community
Rayobyte has created a community led by experts and knowledgeable users willing to share their ideas with others. This is a separate section of the provider’s website where you can go through specific projects. For example, you can learn how to scrape from Airbnb, Zillor, and Reddit, how to build Google Play scrapers, or even how to automate retail price monitoring with a Python-based scraper.
Rayobyte University
Similarly to Rayobyte’s community, this provider offers a special section of its website where courses are hosted. However, Rayobyte’s University is still in development, and the provider promises that new classes will be available soon. Currently, only two courses are available, showing you how to scrape from Google Maps, and there’s also a “Scrapy + Python Certification Course.”
Rayobyte Blog
Most blogs you’ll find on the websites of proxy providers are not exactly helpful, as most of them are created for SEO purposes. However, that’s not the case with Rayobyte’s blog, which has a massive volume of helpful information. You can learn more about various scraping projects and get tips on utilizing Rayobyte. There are also interesting behind-the-scenes stories about the provider and its employees.
Customer Support and User Reviews
In this segment of our Rayobyte review, we’ll explain all the customer support channels offered by this proxy provider and report on our research on the provider’s trustworthiness.
Customer Support Channels
If you wish to contact Rayobyte, we recommend using its live chat support, which is available on every page of the provider’s website. However, even though this option is available 24/7, it’s sometimes powered by a bot. We must note that Rayobyte’s bot is less than ideal, as it doesn’t allow you to input your prompts. So, your options will be very limited.
You can also leave a message if you don’t find a live customer support agent. In that case, someone will get back to you via e-mail in 12 to 24 hours. You’re free to continue via e-mail to keep track of your conversation easily. In other words, it is not the most responsive way to get help, but it gets the job done.
You can also send an email to [email protected], create a support ticket via the provider’s knowledge base, or call the provider directly from 8AM to 5PM CST, Monday through Friday.
User Reviews & Trustworthiness
Rayobyte has mostly positive scores online. On Trustpilot, it currently holds a score of 3.8/5, where most negative reviews are about the provider’s support. Even though we always got a response from the provider’s representatives, they weren’t always the fastest. On the plus side, many praise Rayobyte’s proxy network, performance, and pricing plans.
When it comes to G2, Rayobyte has a score of 4.8/5, but there are only two reviews as of right now. Users have reported that the provider offers very fast speeds and can scrape the web with great results overall.
Conclusion
It’s clear that Rayobyte has a lot to offer. Aside from providing you with residential, ISP, datacenter, and mobile proxies, you can choose rotating or static IPs. It doesn’t have the biggest pool of IPs, but its network spreads the entire world. As a result, we’re confident that Rayobyte will meet your needs regarding various projects.
That said, we must also note that certain aspects of its proxy provider could benefit from refinement. For example, the dashboard you’ll get to use is helpful but bare in many ways. Most other proxy providers offer more in-depth real-time analytics and more comprehensive documentation, which is precisely what Rayobyte lacks.
In the end, we’ll also say that Rayobyte is among the most affordable providers right now. So, despite the previously mentioned drawbacks, we believe it’s among the most attractive options right now, offering a lot of value overall.
